Brooke and Cooper and their sweet pup Roo had the most elevated ranch wedding on a misty Memorial Day weekend. Even with the weather giving us wind, drizzle, grey skies and peek-a-boo sunshine, their wedding day and celebration was everything and more. The epitome of Sonoma Valley charm and agriculture, their wedding venue is both a working farm and producing winery. The ceremony was centered around the massive twisting blue oak tree; and the altar florals were wrapped around the mighty trunk and winding bough of the grand tree. Mauve, ivory and blush colored blooms were hugged by oversized poufs of smoke bush. The wedding party wore dresses in a misty sage and suits in a bold dark navy. String musicians serenaded guests and set the tone for all of the festivities.
A fantastic amount of time and care was put into the finer elements, including the stationery and paper goods. Their custom invitations included a foil illustration of their wedding venues ranch house. An incredible piece of American history, Mary Ellen Pleasant, a self-made millionaire, abolitionist and former owner of the estate, had designed and built the structure as it stands on the landmark property today. We kept the added ranch-style décor to a minimum, as the setting itself provided all of the rustic vibes necessary. A few bucolic touches included crossback chairs and wood-top barrel tables were incorporated for their champagne tower and wedding cake display.
Extra long farm tables with hairpin legs were lined with lightly pigmented runners and thoughtful clusters of vibrant blooms arranged in varying ceramic and cement vessels. The round guest tables were draped in an organic woven linen in a chic taupe hue. Smooth eggshell colored dinnerware with natural curved angles were paired with elegant velvet napkins appropriately named, cashmere. Timeless black dinner menus and vellum place cards were atop the place settings. Contemporary glassware with sharp silhouettes and matte black flatware gave the tabletops an editorial feel. A dynamic mix of chunky ivory pillar candles and petite cocoa-colored votives and sandstone taper candles were bestrewn across the reception surfaces, adding glamorous warmth.
